SYMPTOMS for Acute may include a sudden reduction in urine volume, muscle
cramps and twitching, smell of urine on the breath, fatigue, appetite loss,
convulsions, difficulty in breathing and reduced mental acuity. In Chronic
the signs may include no sudden reduction in urine volume.
CAUSES for Acute may include surgical shock, severe infection, poisoning,
reaction to transfusion or drugs, severe burn, etc. that may cause the
kidney to lose it's ability to filter out waste materials. Cause for Chronic
may include diabetes, hypertensive kidney disease, urinary obstructions,
untreated prostate enlargement, chronic nephritis & advanced pyelonephritis.
TREATMENT. Cause treated, kidney machine dialysis, kidney transplant.
